Superheroes have hit a big boom within pop culture, their stories being made into new blockbuster movies and television series. But comic book heroes aren't the only ones out there. Anime features its own set of heroes too.

You will find a wide variety, but here are some to name a few:

All Might

With the appearance of superpowers, dubbed Quirks, more than 80 per cent of the world hold unique abilities from shapeshifting to controlling gravity. Since the discovery of these powers there has been an exponential increase in one profession: Heroes. Now regarded as a viable job, young hopefuls train at academies in the hopes of becoming an ally of justice.

And in this world of heroes, one outshines the rest: All Might. Bearing the title “Symbol of Peace,” he is the greatest and most highly respected hero throughout the world. All Might oozes an overabundance of optimism and has a take-charge attitude, always showing a giant smile on his face

His Quirk is one of the greatest mysteries in the world. No one knows the true nature of his power but that he exhibits powerful strength, enhanced mobility and unnatural jumping skills when using it.

What is the truth?

One For All can be inherited and All Might is looking for a successor to inherit his power. He has entered U.A. High as a teacher for this purpose. However, even before school starts, he encounters Izuku Midoriya, a young boy with no Quirk but holds the potential of a hero. All Might chooses this young boy to be his successor and begins Izuku's path to heroism.

Wild Tiger “Crusher for Justice”

45 years after people began appearing with abilities called Noted Entities with eXtraordinary Talents (NEXT), the ideals of “justice” and “heroism” have been reimagined in the futuristic city of Sternbild. Heroes have become means for commercialization and commodity, featuring advertisements from real-life companies on their outfits. Now heroes compete against each other to accumulate points for their accomplished heroisms on a television show, Hero TV, so that at the end of season they can be the one hero crowned “King of Heroes.”

Kotetsu T. Kaburagi is a veteran hero and among the least popular in Sternbild. He believes in the traditional values of heroes, concerning himself with protecting civilians and making sure justice is served. His NEXT, Hundred Power, grants him a hundred times the power of his physical capabilities, but it only can be used for five minutes and he must wait an hour before he can use his powers again. Since he disregards everything else except justice, he has earned himself the nickname “Crusher for Justice” from all the collateral damage caused by his heroisms.

When his company is bought out, Kotetsu finds himself suddenly in the first ever hero tag team with new hero Barnaby Brooks Jr. Unfortunately for these two heroes, they don't quite see eye-to-eye and will have to learn to work together if they ever want to be crowned “Kings of Heroes.”

Saitama

The cities of the world are constantly in danger from the attacks of Mysterious Beings, monsters who love destruction. To protect the peace, heroes band together to fight against the evil.

When Saitama discovered his potential to become a hero, he saw an opportunity to have fun. Yes, he became a hero for fun. He went through extensive training to make it a reality. As a result, his hair fell out, but he gained immeasurable power.

Soon after entering the hero scene, however, Saitama discovered one problem: he can defeat all his opponents with just one punch. Sataima can't feel the thrill of battle anymore and it has caused him to become quite bored. Now, he is constantly seeking out an opponent who will be a challenge. Despite an indifferent attitude towards anything else but his goal, he still steps up every time to stop crime.

When a new toy robot called Heybo hits the market, Joey Jones believes that getting one will help turn him into a hero who can protect his family and friends. Unfortunately, his measly funds cannot afford it. However, opportunity presents itself when he finds a broken one. Taking it home, Joey dubs the robot Heroman and attempts to fix it. When a mysterious bolt of lightning strikes it, Joey suddenly finds that Heroman has grown into a giant robot, which he can command with a gauntlet that has appeared on his hand. With a catastrophic alien invasion on the horizon, Joey along with Heroman will have to become heroes to save the world.

Hajime Ichinose

Anime: Gatchaman Crowds Gatchaman, warriors who fight in power suits called NOTE. These suits manifested by the spiritual energy of living beings are used by Gatchaman to fight against alien criminals that invade planets against the rules of the council. In Tachikawa, Japan, the Gatchaman force of Earth reside. A team of aliens, along with humans scouted for their latent powers, fight in secret against invaders. Here, high schooler Hajime Ichinose is chosen as the next Gatchaman.

When the leader of the Gatchaman, JJ, awakens her latent abilities, she takes everything in with a carefree smile. Hajime is an eccentric spirit who adores making colourful crafts in her many notebooks. Her artistic nature is reflected in her NOTE abilities as many types of scissors she wields. Some of the other Gatchaman find her troublesome due to her sometimes irrational thoughts and attitudes that she displays in serious situations.
