The Heel Turn: TNA turns to Sting Immortal

This past week on TNA Impact proved to be full of surprises, as the legal decision between Hulk Hogan and Dixie Carter was rendered and a legend returned to take on Jeff Hardy for the TNA title.

Ever since Hogan and Eric Bischoff launched their hostile takeover of TNA, they have been embroiled in a legal battle with Carter, the TNA president, over who really has claim to the company. Fans will remember that Bischoff used underhanded tactics to steal the company from Carter, by tricking her into signing over ownership papers, which she mistakenly believed was a termination notice for Abyss.

The final decision was handed down on Thursday, and, judging by the look on Carter's face as she entered the ring, it wasn't a good one for her. She began to give a teary-eyed speech, thanking all the fans for their support during the crisis. This was predictably interrupted by Bischoff, Ric Flair, Hogan and the rest of Immortal. The heels naturally came out to gloat and rub their victory in Carter's face, stating that TNA was now firmly in their control from now on.

Fortune disagreed with this, and came out to challenge Immortal, who, not surprisingly, didn't have the guts to fight, and instead sent out security to get rid of AJ, Kaz and Beer Money.

Velvet Sky had a match against Sarita, with her career on the line if she didn't win this time. She managed to pin Sarita, only for Cookie and Robbie E to come out, with yet another Jersey Shore "star," Angelina, in tow. They told The Beautiful People to get J-Woww back and they would all have a match at a later date. I'm still not sure what TNA management is thinking, as these Jersey Shore people bring absolutely no value to Impact.

Jeff Jarrett and his wife Karen planned on having a fancy ceremony in the ring to renew their vows, and as anybody knows, wrestling and weddings just don't mix all that well. Kurt Angle came out beforehand to beat Jarrett up a bit, and then pushed Karen's face into the wedding cake. He did walk Karen down the aisle to give her away to Jarrett like he promised, only to take an axe to the wedding fixtures after it was all done.

The antichrist of professional wrestling, Jeff Hardy, had to defend his TNA title due to orders from the network. Who his challenger was going to be was kept a secret until the match, with everyone assuming that it was going to be Mr. Anderson. It turned out to be the returning Sting, who had been absent from TNA for months. He battered the champ and hit him with several Death Drops, which enabled him to win the heavyweight belt. While I am happy that the belt has been taken off Hardy, they need to stop playing hot potato with it. Hopefully, though, the title does not end up back in Hardy's grasp again, and gains some much-needed prestige.
